HERITAGE FLORIDA JEWISH NEWS, OCTOBER 25, 2013 A Mitzvah Marathon for 9/11 anniversary Students standing in front of the Mitzvah Wall of Fame are (l-r) Ari Hoffman, Shmully Lipskier, Marc Sheradsky, Lucdwin Luck, and Brandon Grega. This year for the 12th an- niversary of 9/11 Chabad at UCF and the Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority hosted a Mitzvah Marathon that took place at UCF in front of the student union on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The Mitzvah Marathon, also known as a good deed marathon, was created to commemorate all those who perished by bringing light into the world on this tragic day through the performance of mitzvah. Many students helped recruit individuals to perform a good deed, whether it was writing a letter to a soldier, writing a shana tova card to their parents, bringing a canned food item, giving charity, calling their Sisters from Aephi volunteering at the 9/11 event, (l-r) Adi Graff, Alexa Freeman, Lauren Cohen, Suzann Cayne, and Ashley Feller. grandparents, and many more activities. The mitzvas were written on red, blue and white papers and then hung on the mitvah wall of fame for all to see. Suzann Cayne a sophomore at UCF lost her father on 9/11 in the north tower. "It was extraordinary watching others do mitzvahs in honor of my father. Words cannot even express my gratitude to Chabad for making this hap- pen," she said. More than 200 students from every walk of life stopped by the Chabad table through- out the day. For more infor- mation about Chabad at UCF please visit www.jewishucf. com.
