Page 6-16, HERITAGE, Florida Jewish News, Friday, September 21, 1979 Oh how I prayed for school to start so normalcy could return to my life. Now I spend from 3-7:30 p.m. daily schlepping my kids from one part of town to another. Some normalcy! There just isn't any justice. Congratulations to PAUL M. WALLACH who recently was accepted to the University of South Florida College of Medicine for the Fall 1980 entering class. Paul will be a senior this year at Rollins College where he has been attending on a four- year scholarship. He will graduate with a combined premedicine-chemistry major. Paul received the CRC Freshman Chemistry Award, the A.G. Bush Award for excellence in the sciences, the Thomas R. Baker Award in Chemistry, was inducted into the Rollins Key Honorary Society, and is a student affiliate of the American Chemical Society. After this school year, Paul and his wife Ree will move to Tampa where he will begin medical school. Paul is the son of MR. and MRS. SID WALLACH and the son-in-law of RABBI and MRS RUDOLPH ADLER. New York, New York, what a wonderful place...aptly describes how the ETTINGER women feel after their extended weekend in New York Cj. BEA ETTINGER and her daughter-in-law, BETTYE ETT1NGER and her daughters MARILYN CROTTY and ROZ FUCHS (of Greenville, N.C.) had a glorious time shopping, visiting museums and seeing Broadway shows, "Sweeny Todd," "Who's Life is it Anyway?" and'T m Getting my Act Together and Taking It on the Road." They were totally uncon- cerned about staying in a hotel located right near Central Park but anyone would know better Call Linda Amon: 645-3849 than to try to bother these closely knit women. WERNER and FANNY GUGGENHEIM have returned from a delightful month long vacation visiting their three children and six grandchildren as well as Fanny's brother, SAM MONATT. They visited daughter, JANET and her husband, STEVE LIPPMAN, former Orlandoans and their children, JOSH and SARAH, who are living at Hastings on the Hudson, MARTY and DENISE GUGGENHEIM and their children, JAMIE and COURTNEY of Merdck, L.I., and JACK and PHYLLIS GUGGENHEIM and their children, MELANIE and uSA of Kew Gardens, N.Y. By the way ROSE MONATT, Fanny's mom, had been staying with Wemer and Fanny for the past four months but has just recently gone back to New Jersey. It's always nice to have Rose visit with us. Belated birthday wishes to ABBY SALE who just became another year older on September 19. Abby's deter- mination to downplay his birthday (in fact he almost forgot he had one coming until we reminded him) falls on deaf ears as we send him our very best wishes on his one-year older (but better?) day! September 19 was also a day that ALAN GLUECK cele- brated (or at least shoud have) his birthday. Alan's the kind of guy who would never let the fact that he's getting older bother him...much! Alan also has one terrific sense of humor, (1 hope) and at his age that's important. Hope it was happy! FRED and SANDRA BROWN and their daughter, GLENNA, brought son/bro- ther JEFF back to North Eastern University in Boston, Mass., and spent two-and-a- half weeks "back home" in Rhode Island where they visited long-time friends and family. They were on hand for a surprise birthday party for Sandra's sister, MURIEL NIRENBERG, and a special family reunion where relatives from California, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Rhode Island attended. It was wonderful to see everyone again and to learn that being out-of-sight doesn't change people's feelings towards one another. It didn't take the Browns long to feel welcomed back to Florida because MARCIA and GEORGE GOODMAN had extended a written invitation to them for dinner in honor of Fred's September 10 birthday. And as a joke Marcia included on the bottom of the invitation "proper dress required." Most Floridians, familiar to our 90 degree humid days would take that to mean a shirt and shoes but Fred and Sandra interpreted it differently with the hopes of really pulling off a joke on the Goodmans. .ap - And it worked perfectly.- Marcia, clad in shorts and bare feet, opened and door and was greeted by Sandra, Fred and Glenna who were dressed in ultra-formal attire (including tuxedo and its accessories and long gowns). It was a sight to behold. Marcia and George convulsed at the sight. Let me give you some background information about the Browns and the Goodmans. When Fred first came down here about a year ago he picked up HERITAGE and noticed the names of George and Marcia Goodman in this column. How Fred went to high school with a George Goodman and he had a feeling it might just be the same person. Fred contacted me. I put him in touch with George and the renewed friendship has been close ever since. Just one of the pleasures of this job. Incidentally, Marcia and George recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniver- sary with the Browns. Congratulations, Marcia and George! AL and WlLMA ROLLER spent this Past weekend celebrating as their son, JON, became a Bar Mitzvah. It was just one of the moments in life that make you smile both inside and out. After months of prepara- tion and hard work on both Jon's part as well as Wilma and Ars, everything went just as they anticipated -- beautifully. He as on such an emotional "high" from the weekend that becoming another year older didn't bother him at all. HANK and TERRI MOR- RELL just returned from a "quickie" trip to New Orleans where they attended a football game. Their son, SCOTT, a junior at Tulane University where his major is anthropology and premed., plays left offensive tackle on the Tulane team. Scott is not only a full-tuition football scholarship recipient, but a member of Phi-Eta- Sigma, a scholastic honorary society. He takes time off from his busy schedule to show his parents around New Orleans. But Hank and Terri admit that all their trips there have made New Orleans "a second home."
