What a rare mood I'm in. Why it's almost like being in love. There's a smile on my face for the whole human race, why it's almost like being in love." "Almost Like Being In Love" is one of my all time favorite songs to sing. It is truly an American "standard," but did you know it was introduced to the public in the Broadway musical Brigadoon? Brigadoon, with a memorable score by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, is coming to Central Florida! It is the story of a couple of sophisticated New Yorkers who get lost on a hunting trip and stumble into a special town one that is mystical in the Scottish Highlands. I will not tellyou any more of the plot, just tell you it is a beloved American musical, and for good reason. A musical whimsical journey to Brigadoon, performed by the Helen Stairs Theatre Repertory Company, can be yours by contact- ing the beautiful Helen Stairs Theatre, 203 S. Magnolia Avenue, Sanford. Their box office phone number is 407 321-8111. The dates set are September 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26. (Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.; Sundays at 2 p.m.). Under the able direction of talented JUNE POWELL,with musi- cal direction by DALE ADAMS, and choreography by BIRGITTA IRBLICH,Brigadoon promises to be a wonderful theatrical event not to be missed[ Remembering way back when (When we were kids in Brooklyn, New York!) We played a lot of games like Hide N Go Seek, Patsy, and Ringalevio. We collected a lot of things, like rubber bands to make balls; chewing gum wrappers and aluminum sheets; chewing gum boxes with little cellophane windows to hold Japanese Beetles (my personal contribution to the war effort during WWII); and baseball cards. I was a big Brooklyn Dodgers fan and I always traded for a Jackie Robinson (#42) card. I loved him dearly. No trade was too much for a Jackie Rob- inson card! But, had I a SARAH PLOTNICK baseball card in those days I WOULD NOT HAVE TRADED IT!l!! Of course that was before Sarah was born. That was even before Sarah's morn and dad, ELANA and RICHARD PLOTNICK, were born. Well I do have a Sarah Plotnick baseball card now, showing her wearing her Lions uniform and holding a bat. The back of the card gives Sarah's statistics like Coach RUM- MEL, and her position (shortstop). It also gives her age, height and weight but one never gives out such information about a lady! Sarah, her big brother, David, and her morn and dad were just in Orlando to visit our theme parks. I promise, Sarah, not to tradeawayyourbaseballcard. welL maybe on Ebay. Another visitor to Central Florida I'm sure you've heard this before: "I feel like a new born baby no teeth, no hair and I think I just wet my pants." SARAH PLOTNICK base-(I forgotwhich comedian said ball card. it Milton Berle, maybe?) Anyway, I'm convinced a little angel saved me and my family from harm during Hur- ricane Charley. My house sustained damage but all of us were just fine! And I just happen to have a picture of that little angel (see photo). She is adorable NICOLE PENA, daughter of RON and BETH PENA, and the youngest grandchild of EDDIE and GAIL MAR- CUS. Wow check Nicole out. Those are my thighs!!!!
