He is now, and has been for - the last few years, radio host of his own program broadcast from North Carolina, fitled Cool Jazz in the Mountains. He is currently on hiatus from his show due to his recent hospitalization and a need to recuperate so Marie and Peter (and their dog) decided to Visit friends in Central Florida and family in South Florida. We wish them well and look forward to Peter's full recovery and return to the airwaves. (Play my newest CD!) Speaking of dogs Think of Moses wandering through the desert, leading "our people" out of slavery. Now think of Moses, a combination Greyhound and Heinz 57 (mutt) who was wandering and looking for a loving family to take him in. He's neutered with all of his shots. He's housebroken and loves family and kids. He deserves a good Jewish home, especially with a name like Moses! He was found by a good Samaritan named MARY SMITH. She can be reached at 407-927-4567. MOSES the dog. Why not let Moses lead you out of depression and bring great joy to you and your family! Speaking of jazz and "our people" As you probably know, many (maybe most) of our great American standards written in the 1920s, 30s, 40s and beyond, were written by Jewish composers and lyricists, many from immigrant families that fled Russia and Poland in search of a better life. Not only did they find fame and wealth they gave us a better life when they created their wonderful musical com- positions. GEORGE and IRA GERSHWlN come to mind immedi- ately. On Sunday, July 25, at 7 p.m the Altamonte Jazz Ensem- ble, under direction of MIKE ARENA, will pay tribute to the brothers Gershwin by performing Fascinating Rhythm II at Lake Brantley High School Auditorium, 991 Sand Lake Road, Altamonte Springs. The concert, only $5 per person at the door, will feature pianist, DAVE SHEFFIELD, and my friend, LINDA COLE, singing Ira's immortal words. I was privileged to sing at Fascinating Rhythm I and can recommend this program highly. Being a devotee of George and Ira Gershwin, I also have a little story to tell. Their dad, Morris, an immigrant from the Ukraine, struggled with his English and thought the song "Fascinating Rhythm" was pronounced "Fashion on the River." Don't miss this concert. You'll thank me for telling you! New album alert They did it againl Those three beautiful young ladies who sing so well together! (You know the ones I told to leave town or else!) Visions, made up ofvocalists,AMYTURNER, TALIAOSTEEN, and ANDRA LONDON, have another CD out. This one is titled Light of Dawn. There are 12 terrific cuts on this album that we all should really own. I think you can find out where to purchase one by going online to Amy, Talia and Andra, three talented, gorgeous and shapely young ladies, thank their music director, Cantor ALLAN RO- BUCK, right on the new CD. (Okay talented, gorgeous, shapely, young so big deal I'm not young!) I'm also feeling terrific about my newest CD, recorded a few months ago in Brazil and now released in the USA. The CD, (my 6th) is titled I Have Draamed, and is filled with songs from the great American songbook many from Broadway shows all arranged and played by Brazilians, with a modern flair and Brazilian rhythms. I sing in English. Youcanhearitfree alll4cuts on
