HERITAGE FLORIDA JEWISH NEWS, JULY 4, 2014 Palestinian children learn to hate Israel on Hamas-controlled children's TV shows PAGE 11A The Heritage receives email from Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), an Israeli research institute that studies Palestin- ian society from a broad range of perspectives. Founded in 1996, its director, Itmar Mar- cus, and associate director, Barbara Crook, and analyst, Nan Jacques Zilberdik, moni- tor and analyze the Palestin- ian Authority through its media and schoolbooks. PMW's major focus is on the messages that the Palestinian leaders, from the Palestin- ian Authority, Fatah and Hamas, send to the population through the broad range of in- stitutions and infrastructures they control. The Heritage has never run any of the articles because they reveal such. hatred that it is almost unbelievable. But since Hamas has made an alliance with the PA, for the sake of knowing the enemy of Israel, Heritage will periodi- cally run reports from PMW. The following article by It- amar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik, titled Hamas TV entertains children with sound of rockets'to encourage and excite our audience, our children friends,' shows how Hamas uses television broad- casts to train Palestinian chil- dren to hate Jews and Israel. In its latest episode, Hamas TV's children's program Tomor- row's Pioneers chose to teach young viewers what a rocket sounds like %vhen it is launched from us" and %vhen it reaches them [the Israelis].'AI-Aqsa TV (Hamas), June 20, 2014 As the child host on the program encouraged the program's guest,'an adult mimic, to do "a last imitation of the sound of our rockets," the man-sized bee puppet Nahul requested he make "the sound of the explosion." These soundswere"to encour- age and excite our audience, our children friends," the child host explained. Upon hearing the mimic make a rocket sound, a child in the studio identified it as "the M-75" rocket. After the mimic explained that this was the sound of a rocket being launched, the child host re- quested he imitate the sound a rocket makes "when it reaches them [the Israelis]." Nahul the bee then eagerly made the sound of an exploding rocket. Around the same time, Hamas Political Bureau mem- ber Khalil A1-Hayya vowed that "Hamas and its Brigades (Hamas' military wing), will continue to dig tunnels, build rockets and cross seas until it defeats the enemy... We will continue on the path of Jihad and Martyrdom (Shahada). O children of the resistance, O A1-Qassam [Brigades], this is the only way; march forward, [until] either victory or Mar- tyrdom.'"- Al-Hayat AI-Jadid a, June 22, 2014 Last month, Palestinian Media Watch reported that the same Hamas TVchildren's program encouraged Pales- tinian children to "shoot all the Jews." Another episode of the Rachel Frenkel speaks before U.N. Human Rights Council The three mothers of the kidnapped boys: Rachel Frenkel, mother of Naftali; BatoGalim Shaar, mother of Gilad; and nongovernmental organiza- t!on that dealswithwhat it says are human rights violations at the U.N. The group's Executive Director Hillel Neuer gave up 15 minutes of his speaking time at the committee so that Frenkel could speak. This is what she said: On behalf of U.N. Watch. my name is Rachel Frenkel. and I live in Israel. i've come here today as a mother. Twelve days ago, my son Naftali. and two other teenage students, Eyal Yifrah and Gilad Shaer-- whose mothers are sitting behind me--were kidnapped on theirway home from school. Since then, we've heard noth- ing-no news. no sign of life. With your permission, I'd like to tell you about the boys. My son Naftali is 16. He loves to play guitar and basketball. He's a good student and a good boy--a combination of serious and fun. Eyal loves to play sports and cook. Gilad is an amateur pastry chef, and lovesmovies. My son texted me said he's on his way home--and then he's gone. Every mother's nightmare is waiting and wait- ing endlessly for her child to come home. And I thank the Internation- al Red Cross for stating clearly that international humanitar- ian law prohibits the taking of hostages, and for demanding the immediate and uncondi- tit)nal release of our boys. At the same time, I believe much more can be done--and should be done--by so many. That is why we three mothers have come here today--before the United Nations, and before the world-- to ask everyone to do whatever they can, to bring back our boys. We wish to express our profound gratitude for the waves of prayers, support and positive energy, pouring in from around the world. Being in this assembly, I wish to thank the UN Secre- tary-General for condemning the abduction of our boys, expressing his solidarity with the families, and calling for their immediate release. Mr. President, it is wrong to take children, innocentboys or girls, and use them as instru- ments of any struggle. It is cruel. This council is charged with protecting human rights. I wish to ask: Doesn't every child have the right to come home safely from school? We just want them back in . Iris Yifrah, mother of EyaL Courtesy of Israel Hayom and The Jewish.Press Rachel Frenkel, the mother of abducted teen Naftali Fren- kel addressed the U.N. Human Rights Council in Geneva, beseeching the international community to do "whatever they can" to see that her son and his two friends return home safely. Bat-Galim Shaar and Iris Yifrah. the mothers of the two other kidnapped boys, also attended the session. It was decided at a meeting between the families of the missing teens in Talmon that Frenkel would address the U.N. rights council. Though the families themselves have launched several efforts, they agreed that they trust the Israeli Defense Forces to bring their sons home. "We are determined to see our children come back home as fast as. possible." a state- ment from the families read. A source at the meeting said a campaign for the missing teenagers was suggested, but they families turned the idea down because they "have faith in the IDR'" Iris Yifrach. the mother of one of the boys who accom- panied Frenkel to Geneva. said that "I wish this ordeal was already behind us this nightmare." Frenkel flew to Geneva on Monday after she was contacted by U.N. Watch. a our homes, in their beds. We just want to hug them again. Thank you, Mr. President.
