HERITAGE FLORIDA JEWISH NEWS, JULY 4, 2014 Temple L'Chayim has a cantor/spiritual leader Cantor Isaac Kriger has been officially engaged as per- manent cantor and spiritual leader for Temple L'Chayim in Clermont. Born in Mexico of Lithua- nian descent, Cantor Kriger has officiated as a cantor extensively throughout Central Florida as well as Southern California, Boston and Las Vegas. He has also performed in concert for various Jewish organizations in Central Florida as well as throughout the United States. Kriger's training and ex- perience have given him the ability to daven in both the traditional and contem- porary style, evident in the compositions of Cantor Meir Finkelstein, Debbie Friedman and Craig Taubman. Kriger was a principal lead tenor with the Israel National Opera and has concertized in Europe and the U.S. He has ap- peared on national television on "The Jewish Entertain- ment Hour" and in concert at Lincoln Center. Temple L'Chayim has Fri- day night services o n the sec- ond and fourth Friday of every month at 7:30 p.m. Next ser- vice is July 11. The synagogue is located at 4420 S. Boy Sout Troop 641, the only Jewish-sponsored Boy Scouting Unit in Central Florida, is sending four members'to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico July 15. Usher Larry Brown will accompany his son Dan- iel, and Scoutmaster Mark Kluger will accompany his son Nathan. The four will be part of the Central Florida his son Daniel, Nathan Kluger and his father Scoutmaster Council Contingent leaving for a 15-day expedition to the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. The members have trained since August 2013 for their 80-plus mile hike through the mountains, where they will live in tents, backpacking up mountains, and into valleys. "Troop 641 wishes our members a safe and amazing journey, and we look forward to sending m)re Scouts and leaders on this trip of a lifetime," said Ken Goldberg, Troop 641 media relations. Zionistas say goodbye to Garden Gate Tea Room David Moldau (L-r), garen Sandvick, owner of the Garden Gate Tea Room, Mr. Dora; and three of the four founders of the Zionastas: Eva London Ritt, SandY Solomon, and Diana Scimone. Missing is Judy Shujman. The formulation of the Zionistas, an organization of Christians and Jews who love and support Israel, began over lunch at the Garden Gate Tea Room in Mt. Dora. Owner Karen Sandvick, originally from Norway, spent her earlier years as a photojournalist working for international news organizations. She has been a devoted supporter of Israel since her first assign- ment to Israel. At the end of June, the doors closed at the Tea Room and the Zionistas lunched there for their lasl visit on June 25. The group wanted to wish Karen great success and joy in any new endeavor she plans.
