hpZ, Fddw, al XgTS,  JWV Hold Memorial Rabbi Kentof Resigns EleccrsHebrewDaySofficers On May 28, Jewish War Veterans Post 59 and Auxiliary will hold Memorial Day services for all deceased veterans. Services will com- mence at the Ohev Shalom cemetary. Services at Tem- ple Israel cemetary will take place at approximately 1:30 p.m., and at Congr. of Liberal Judaism cemetary at about 2 b.m. Flags will be placed at the graveside of every departed veteran whether or not he (she) had belonged to JWV Post 59. Leading the services will be Past Commander Leon Sobel and Commander Murray Salat. Temple Israel's executive commie has accepted the resignation of Rabbi Dov Kentof, educational director of the synagogue for the past five years and says they will immediately begin seeking a replacement, according to outgoing TI Pres. Louis Feinberg. Feinberg praised Kentof's "imaginative innovations" and said that Kentof and his wife, Alena, have contributed greatly to the advancement made by Temple Israel in its educational programs. He especially lauded the 44-year old educator for his shab- hotim, camping trips, and the recent Holocaust museum. Kentof, one of three area temple educators recently honored by their synagogues, said "it was time to move on to other challenges" but that the five years spent here "will always be cherished and provide us with many memories to treasure. At last Sunday's annual congregational meeting, Kentof himself quashed at- tempts to have his resignation reconsidered IBm ImV KEIm when he asked his congregational friends to refrain from any action that might divide the synagogue. "Temple israel needs unity and togetherness," he told them. He apologized for the "tension and frustration I've caused over the last two weeks," when he first presen- ted his resignation to the executive board. "I truly love the congregation," he said, We II ish It "especially the youth and the school." Born in Israel, Kentof came to Orlando from Charlotte, N.C. in 1973 where he had been director of youth activities at Temple Israel there. He and his wife have two children, a boy and a girl.
