HERITAGE FLORIDA JEWISH NEWS, MAY 4, 2012 PAGE 9A By Gloria Yousha -- Call 407-657-9405 or 407-834-8787 I'm in shock... This bit of news comes (in part) from the World Jewish Congress and many other reliable sources: "KELLY MILIZIANO, who teaches history classes at Stein- brenner High School in the Tampa, Florida, area apparently thinks it's perfectly OK to invite a senior official of a Hamas- affiliated organization into her classroom to discuss Islam with her students. According to local media reports, not only has this been going on for years, but in spite of the civil and criminal proceedings that could result from such reckless negligence, the Hillsborough County school superintendent, MARY ELLEN ELIA, and the chairman of the school board, also expressed approval for students under their responsibility to be exposed repeatedly to guest speaker, Hassan Shibly, who is the executive director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in the Tampa area. And why is CAIR a prob- lem? CAIR is an Islamic organization that was listed by the Department of Justice (Do J) as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) Hamas terror funding trial more than three years ago. "According to the DoJ evidence submitted in that trial, CAIR was irrefragably demonstrated to be an element of the Hamas Palestine Committee in the U.S. Hamas, of course, is the Palestinian off-shoot of the Muslim Brotherhood in Gaza and aU.S.-government-designated Foreign Terrorist Organiza- tion. Therefore, it is readily appreciated that CAIR is actually Hamas doing business in the U.S. under another name. Based on that evidence as well as the unanimous guilty verdict for the HLF defendants in the 2008 trial, the FBI severed all ties with CAIR the following year. "Now, as noted above, the individual to whom world history teacher Kelly Miliziano has exposed dozens of her Steinbrenner High School students, holds a senior position with the CAIR operation in Tampa. As CAIR's top representative in Tampa, Hassan Shibly is a ranking official of an organization known by the FBI and U.S. justice system to be a facade for Hamas, a vicious terror organization sworn to the destruction of the State of Israel, which seized power in Gaza in a bloody coup in 2007 and has since implemented strict Islamic law there. Amputation, flogging, stoning and crucifixion are all part of the Hamas legal code. To date, and for reasons best known to itself, the DoJ has failed to prosecute CAIR or any of the hundreds of other Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated co-conspirators in the HLF case--which helps to explain why there even is a CAIR organization in existence in Tampa today. "As a teacher of world religions and educator of impression- able young minds, Ms. Miliziano has a professional respon- sibility to know her subject matter and, equally importantly, to thoroughly vet those guest speakers allowed direct contact with her Steinbrenner High history students." (You can find much more online.., but let me warn.., it will shock you!) Reva Pearlstein Monica DiGiovanni The Something Suite Trio On a more pleasant note (literally)... On Sunday, May 6 at 2 p.m. sharp/the Seniors Group of Congregation Ohev Shalom, will hold their next meeting. The featured entertainment for the afternoon will be The Something Suite Trio, consisting of CHRISTINE BARRON on clarinet, JULIE KOGAN on violin and CINDY KRULICK on piano. They will be performing a concert of favorite Klezmer tunes. The Something Suite Trio is a gathering of musical colleagues and friends who share a great affection for chamber music. They have performed together in many arenas, including classical, musical theater and popular music. The ensemble performs a mix of trios, duets and solos, presenting an expansive array of programs from the Baroque through contemporary repertoire. However, they all share an especially fond place in their hearts for klezmer music As individuals, they have traveled through many different musical and personal worlds. Barton is the adjunct professor of clarinet at Rollins College and is an avid chamber musician and recitalist. She is married with two children. Kogan has an extensive performing and teaching background and is especially active in the area of klezmer and mariachi music. She is married and has three children. Krulick is a long-time educator in the Orange County Public School system, and is aprofessional accompanist, collaborating with students in competitions, as well as with many artists in the area. She is married with two children. The members of The Something Suite Trio come from a variety of musical backgrounds, with each artist bringing their own unique style to the ensemble, and blending together to create a wonderfully distinctive sound. (I love klezmer music. It is such a joyous sound!) The cost of the afternoon is only $4, COS Seniors; $6, all others There will be refreshments following the musical program. Everyone is welcome.., so bring your friends. For questions or directions, phone SOLLY HABER at 321- 972-5521. And while on the subject... "If you help even one child"... This story really touched me: ANDREA ELISCU, presi- dent and founder of Medical Marketing Inc. has been honored by the Orlando Police Departmentwith its Good Cit- izenship Award in recognition for her guidance and partici- pation in the Orlando Police Department Dueling Dragon Boat team. The team, the first of its type in the history of the sport, was comprised of Orlando Police Department SWAT team officers and local at-risk youth. The award is Andrea Eliscu presented to a member of the community for exemplary as- sistance to the Orlando Police Department and its employees. Andrea conceived of and spearheaded the development of this unique community initiative, which launched in April 2011. The group paddled and practiced together over a four-month period, culminating with the team's participation, first place finish in the Community Cup and second place finish in the Open Division of the 2011 Walgreens International Dragon Boat Festival at Watt Disney World in October. "The initiative Andrea brought to us has been invaluable to the police department, and we may never know just how much we influenced these kids' lives," said Orlando Police Department Lt. DEAN DESCHRYVER. "To know that you helped even one child would make it worthwhile." A registered nurse and medical marketing specialist, An- drea founded Medical Marketing Inc., in 1984, and serves as its president. She has authored three books and has received numerous professional awards. One for the road... Izzy was sitting at the breakfast table one Sunday morning reading the News of the World. He had just read an article about a beautiful film star who had announced that she was going to marry a football player who was famous not only for his aggression on and off the field, but also for his lack of IQ and common sense. Like many men; Izzy loved hearing his own voice and liked to report aloud stories he read from the paper. So he turned to his wife Sadie and said, "I'll never understand why the biggest jerks get the most attractive wives." Sadie replied, "Why thank you, darling!"
