GLEICK and JANE GLEICK, as she went from professional ballerina to medical school student to in- tern to, finally, practicing pe- diatrician at Miami Children's Hospital. Now, at the ripe old age of 34, Julie has returned to the professional stage as she per- formed with the Ballet The- ater of Miami and her former choreographer, TONY CATANZERO. They danced two perfor- mances of "Summertime" Dr. JULIE KANTOR from Gershwin's Porgg and Bess at the Mary and David Alper Jewish Community Center in Miami. Was this her swan song? I hope not," said Julie. What an accomplished gal Dr. Julie is! She makes her parents and all of us very proud, indeed. ' ' Remember you don't stop laughing because you grow old You grow old because you stop laughing. What wonderful memories of laughter I have whenever I think of EDITH GOLUB. Since I was a little girl more than a half century ago, Edith has given me joy, laughter, and great fun whenever I was privileged to be around her. She was young then herself, very beautiful and newly married to EDWARD GOLUB. They made their home in Brooklyn, and later on in Rosedale, before becoming Floridians years ago. I loved to visit Edith and Eddie when I was a kid, mainly because Edith had terrific comic books and also a terrific sense of humor. That sense of humor never left her she even delighted my three sons with wonderful stories of how, being overweight, she was still a high-wire ballerina at the circus. (My sons believed her!} Being overweight made Edith's stories even funnier. For instance, she claimed she once went to Brooklyn's Brighten Beach and while swimming in the ocean, had dozens of men swim over and grab her. "Did they think you were a great beauty," I asked? "No," she responded. "They thought I was a raft!" WelL. last week I visited Edith in the hospital. She was making a good recovery from a respiratory condition. I told her the joke about the cow from Minsk that gave great milk. She laughed and her eyes were bright. I decided to give her a mention in this column and wish her a speedy recovery. I just got word that Edith passed on but decided to leave this story in my column to pay tribute to a very funny, joyous lady that I loved. Edith was my aunt.
