He will be graduating in December with a major in Advertising~Public Relations and a r inor in Ju- daic Studies. The following re- flects his feelings about his in- volvement with the Jewish Fed- eration of Greater Orlando. I just wanted to say thank you very much, for a few things For inviting me to be- come a member of the CRC, inviting me to sit in on Hillel Lay-Leader Board meetings, for valuing my opinion, for accept- ing me as part of the Orlando Jewish Community. Before college, I was never actively involvedwith anything "organized" and Jewish - ex- cept for a one-year stint in Kadima. Coming to college and getting involved with a Jewish fraternity and then Hillel brought me to a new point; the beginning of my own personal Jewish Renaissance (I hope Ri- chard Joel does not mind me stealing one of his catch phrases). This enabled me to feel confident enough to reach out to the "adult" community and say, "I want to get involved." And I truly feel you all wel- comed me with open arms. He grew up in the stereotypical 1950's Jewish neighborhood (in Montreal). Unfortunately, also to my father's chagrin, he felt as though he had failed to give the same upbringing as his. When I got to school though, and I found myself being drawn to the environments that I naturally felt a part of, I began to realize what my dad was always talking about. I remem- ber going home in the middle of the first semester of college and telling my dad that he was right, it was different - an inde- scribable feeling. But, it was only through my first hand contact and experience that I could truly understand this. I now find myself at a pivitol point in my life; I graduate next December and the question I find myself asking is "Which path do I now take?" In the last year, I have found myself shift- ing focus: from Alpha Epsilon Pi later to include Hillel, even- JAY FELDMAN tually to the community; large. I am career as a Jewish professional - again much my father's chagrin. I feel such a desire to, back to a community that given nity that has helped me velop my identity my identity as the person today.
