A Judaic arts program, weaving into the camp day music, drama, games and special crafts to enrich under- standing of Jewish heritage and tradition will be offered. (The committee is currently accepting applications for a full time Judaic arts director.) As in the past, according to Halpern, JCC will employ a very competent and mature staff, many of whom will be local area school teachers. Staff supervision is on the ratio of one tO five with a head coun- selor and junior counselor and at least one counselor-in- training in each group of ] 5, Membership is required in the JCC and camp fees had to be raised because of inflation, according to Halpern. However, she said that no one will be turned away from the JCC for financial reasons. Financial arrangements will be worked out in a confidential manner. Halpern believes that scholarship requests, because of the problems with te econ- omy, will be higher this year. For this reason, the day camp committee urges the com- munity to help the JCC raise funds to be able to provide assistance for some of these children who otherwise would not be able to attend camp. (The committee will sell wine for Passover and also offer JCC bags, in an effort to raise scholarship funds.) Employment opportunities are available at the JCC this summer, including positions of junior counselor, counselor, unit leader, specialist in crafts, music and drama, plus swim counselor. To apply, appli- cants should contact the JCC weekdays, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., at 645-5933. The day camp committee is planning a kickoff celebration and reunion for the enrollment of day camp children for this season's program on Sun., March 30. Halpern emphasized that families wishing to enroll their youngsters in camp JCC should fill out applications "immediately" and send in a deposit to hold a place. It is anticipated that certain camp- ing programs for particular age groups may close early this year because of the con- tinued growth of the camping program. Families will be able to register for four, six or eight weeks. Special arrangements which deviate from the normal camp schedule may be arranged by contacting the camp director in advance.
