Gamson said that while several people donate either money or kosher and non-kosher products regularly, the pantry stock JFS attempts to keep on hand as emergencies arise, is "nowhere near what we need to distribute even to those with urgently pressing need, let alone some members of the community who live well I:low the poverty line." Gamson requested that people who are able to contribute non-perishable items bring them in to the JFS office at the JCC. No treffe. Donations of kosher poultry and other perishables are also needed. PI 3 Deland Congregation Elects New Board The small but growing congregation of Temple Israel of Deland, Fla., held its annual meeting earlier this month, re- electing a slate of officers that has served the synagogue for the previous two years. In addi- tion, congregation president, Louis Mendelsohn, has announced plans for a Purim party and Passover Seder to be held at the synagogue and open to new members of the community. According to Mendelsohn it is only in the last year that temple membership has reached 40 people, though the congrega- tion is an active one. The Temple considers itself "Orthodox-Conservative" and holds services on Friday evenings at 7:30 p.m., con- ducted by Jack Levinson and Louis Mendelsohn, and fol- lowed by an Oneg Shabbat.
