HERITAGE FLORIDA JEWISH NEWS, FEBRUARY 1, 2013 PAGE 9A By Gloria Yousha -- Call 407-657-9405 or 407-834-8787 What else is new?... I read this article in the World Jewish Congress Foundation newsletter and got to thinking.., and thinking. Here it is with asides by me: "Authorities in India arrested three Muslim would-be terrorists who were intent on planning an attack on Jews. (What else is new?) "Apprehended recently, the subjects are members of a cell as- sociated with the Indian Mujahedeen, "The group had been linked to past attacks aimed at Jewish communal sites. New Delhi police were led by an informant to the suspects, who were found to have stockpiled deadly explosives and a large quantity of nails, which are often used as shrapnel in homemade bombs." (It seems that a lot of the terror in this world is either about hating Jews or loving oil. That got me to thinking about Arab countries and their oil. I filled my car up with gas today. I've asked this before but here goes: Oil prices are once again on the rise. How can a person make ends meet when one end is in Saudi Arabia? I think much of the world is focused on oil. That's probably why many European countries are upsetwith Israel often and also upset with the U.S. when we side with Israel. For instance, recently the European Union and Russiadenounced Israel's plans to expand settlements in the occupiedWest Bank. They also know that Arab oil producing countries finance terrorism, and they know that Harnas and Hezbollah are terrorist groups. But they need the oil so they look the other way. Some things never change. It seems I wrote about this before more than 10 years ago. I also wrote that the EU (and the U.S.) can use some reminding when they complain about Israel's so-called occupation of lands she won in wars she didn't start. When, for instance, are we going to give The Alamo back to General Santa Ana?) What's on your "Bucket List"?... (A visit to Montreal, Canada, is on mine because my morn was born there and my maternal grandmother is buried there. Maybe I'll get to Montreal some- day soon.., very soon because I'm getting older and running out of time!) Avery lovely lady named ZER- RIE GLICKMAN of Boynton Beach West, has a"Bucket List," although she is much younger than me. Zerrie GHckman with For50yearsZerriewantedto Disney's Snow White meet the "real" Cinderella. Zerrie, who has never been to a theme park, had her wish granted with a birthday gift from her good friend, KARYN DOMBROSKY. (I met Karyn when she attended one of the Heritage holiday parties a while back. She is the daughter of our own GIL DOMBROSKY who works at the Heritage newspaper.) Zerrie fulfilled her lifelong wish recently by having breakfast in the castle at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom with Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, Aurora and Jasmine. She also received a framed decree pronouncing her a "princess" too ... and it was signed by Cinderella! In fact, she was so excited that she continues to this day show- ing all of the patrons of the library in West Boca Raton (where she works as a children's librarian) all of her pictures, her decree and her tiara, which she wears to work everyday. (See photo). (Congratulations, Princess Zerrie. It would be a thrill for me to meet you and have my photo taken with you.., wearing your tiara!) I hear music... Beautiful music"...(these are song lyrics, of course). I love music.., not all music, though. The stuffwritten today is just noise as far as I'm concerned.., and rap? Rap is crap! (Oh oh, them's fightin' words!) As a professional vocalist, I know many talented musicians. And I just added a new name to my list. He is RICHARD A. RIES. I met him at the Heritage, where he is an advertising executive. Who knew he had such musical talent? I heard him play recently and I was very pleasantly surprised. Richard specializes in background music... Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin... all the greats! He emphasizes that he is NOT an accompanist, rather he plays beautifully for diners and listeners of the standards, the "good stuff.' (The GreatAmerican Songbook.) He has gigged professionally in Manhattan, including the pooh Tavern on the Green; was the lobby pianist at Philadelphia's famous Rittenhouse Square Hotel; has played piano in fine dining establishments in Palm Beach and Naples, Fla., many corporate events, and much more. Richard says he plays "lyrically and by ear" and would love to gig here in Orlando. He can be reached at his cell phone, 1-239-821-2177. (I think Richard is terrific. He can work anywhere.., restaurants, fundraisers, corporate events, places that could use lovely back- ground mood music. Attention: Del Frisco's... He will wow you!) Speaking of talent... IRENE DREAYER has plenty of talent.., both as a writer (she has a book out) and as a star maker! Her proud morn is our own blARGE DREAYER of Altamonte Springs. Irene (The Dray, as she is often referred to) is Hollywood's #1 kid talent expert and trusted career coach for kid talent. She's a 30-year veteran of family programming, having produced 600 one half hours of network TV and discovered some of the biggest kid stars in the business. The Dray is a long time executive producer for The Disney Chan- nel, The WB and ABC Family. She executive produced the longest running show on The Disney Channel, "The Suite Life of Zack and Co@" and "The Suite Life on Deck" (I and my grandchil- dren love these shows) as well as discovering the show's stars Dylan and Cole Sprouse. Irene also discovered current Style Network stars, Tia and Tamera Mowry as "tweens" to star in The WB series, "Sister Sister," that she executive pro- duced for seven seasons. She has also produced several TVmovies including "THE SUITE LIFE Irene Dreayer ON DECK" movie for Disney Channel, "LEGALLY BLONDE" with Reuse Witherspoon for MGM, Disney Channel and ABC Family, and "DESPERATELY SEEKING SANTA" for ABC Family. (Now THAT'S talent!) Irene's book titled "The Dray Way: Morn! I Want To Be A Star," is considered the ultimate showbiz handbook by Hollywood's #1 kid talent expert. (And, talking to my son, RON, who sometimes coaches young folks in acting, Irene is well known andwell thought of by many in show business.) Irene's book can be purchased on www.amazon.com. According to her morn, "Every chapter explains, informs, and delivers the honest truth about specific aspects of the entertainment business and outlines crucial information kids and parents need to learn as a family." There is so much more information about Irene, who, incidentally, was born and raised right here in Central Florida, on her website www.thedrayway.com. So, if you have a young aspiring star with talent, Irene can coach and ready him or her, and give him or her the coaching it takes to make it in this tough business. She even takes on clients from all over the world via SKYPE. (Too bad Irene wasn't born yet when I was just a tyke. I wanted to be a dancer.., and I did become a"gypsy," which is the name for a chorus dancer, in one show, "Guys And Dolls"... but I didn't have the star power I needed.., so I married, had kids, and became a singer! Just think.., with the proper guidance from Irene, "I coulda been a contender!") One for the road... Moishe and Freda were sitting together one evening watching a DVD movie, as they did every night. But on this occasion, Moishe suddenly says," So, daft ing, whatever happened to our sexual relations?" Freda didn't answer straight away, but when she did, she replied, "You know, I don't even think we got a New Year card from them this year." (Either her hearing is bad or they're married too long.) can be purchased at the following locations: ORANGE COUNTY JCC, 851 N.
