HERITAGE FLORIDA JEWISH NEWS, JANUARY 3, 2014 PAGE 7A Israeli women set hair-razing record Some 250 women in Jeru- salem set a Guinness World Record for donating the most hair to make wigs for cancer patients in a single drive. The record was broken in November at a hair salon in Jerusalem's Malcha Mall after five hours, when the Zichron Menachem Cancer Support Center collected 117 pounds of hair. The drive continued for three days at 200 salons throughout the country. The haircuts were free. Several of the women who donated their hair were cancer survivors and their family and friends. The previous record was 107 pounds. Meital Cohen / Flash90 / JTA OB .,AR ES BETTY LEE BEROTH Betty L. Beroth of Orlando, passed away on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Orlando Regional Medical Center. She was 84 years of age. Born on May 19, 1929, in Atlantic City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Leo and Charlotte Kornblau Burg. Mrs. Beroth was a graduate of Temple University in Phila- delphia, earning a bachelor's and master's degree in educa- tion, and taught elementary school for more than 30 years. On Jan. 2, 1955, in Atlantic City, she married Arnold Beroth, her husband of nearly 59 years who survives her. In 2012, Betty and Arnold relo- cated to the Orlando area from Margate, N.J., to be closer to their daughter and family. In addition to her husband, Betty is survived her daughter, Connie (Clyde) Edson of Or- lando; and her son, Richard (Denise) Beroth of Margate N.J.; a three grandchildren, Conner Landon Edson, Ca- maren Halley Edson and Carrigan Mackenzie Edson. Graveside services were held at Ohev Shalom Cemetery with Rabbi Arnold Siegel officiat- ing. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Cha- pel, Orlando. MARSHA MIRIAM COHEN-LITTLE Marsha M. Cohen-Little passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at Orlando Health. She was 67 years of age. Ms. Cohen-Little was born in New York City on Jan. 11, 1946 to the late Abraham Harold Cohen and Edith Sch- langer Cohen. She was a high school grad- uate and recently received her college degree. During her working career, Marsha worked as a bookkeeper. She was a longtime member of Temple Israel. A graveside service was held at Temple Israel Cemetery with Rabbi Joshua Neely officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, Orlando. LAURIE SANTONINO Laurie Santonino of Del- tona, passed away on Mon- day, Dec. 23, 2013, at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City. She was 59 years old. Ms. Santonino was born on Feb. 18, 1954, in Long Island, N.Y., to Howard Landau and Mildred Gross- man Lines. Ms. Santonino is survived by her son, Louis, of Deltona; her father, Howard Landau of Oviedo; and her mother, Mildred Lines of New York; her brother, Keith (Debra) Landau of Oviedo; and her sister, Karen (Edward) Adolphus of New York. Graveside funeral services were held at Temple Israel Cemetery with Rabbi Arnold Siegel officiating. The family requests memorial contribu- tions be made to the Humane Society. Arrangements en- trusted to Beth Shalom Me- morial Chapel, Orlando. RUTH H. SCHILLER Ruth Schiller passed away on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at her residence. She was 98 years old. Mrs. Schiller was born in New York City to the late Charles and Elsie Miller Glatt on July 6, 1915. She was the widow of the late David Schiller who passed away in 1974. Mrs. Schiller was a book- keeper and worked for Burl- ington Mills until she retired at the age of 70. She relocated to the Orlando area in 2012 to be closer to her daughter and family. Prior to her move, she maintained her own home and was an active volunteer until she reached 90 years of age. Mrs. Schiller is survived by her daughters, Madeleine (Paul) Vilmos of Orlando and Sandra (Roger) Spark of Arizona. She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services and burial were held in New York. The family requests contribu- tions in memory of Ruth H. Schiller to the United Jewish Appeal or the American Jew- ish Congress.
